Our 7 new arrivals from Droopys Flytline and Moments of Magic are approaching 2 weeks old now and have just started to open their eyes. All the pups are very strong and healthy and once again Alice has been a great mother. She’s kept her condition ever so well and looks an absolute picture.

The dogs galloped well again on Wednesday with 22 going through their paces. Our 2024 Produce Stakes winner, Southfield Poppy has been moving well as she comes out of season and will start trialling back soon.

We took our first trip to Dunstall Park on Thursday afternoon to trial 3 dogs and they all moved well. The track looks superb and the facilities are excellent and we’re looking forward to having our first runners there next week. Rioja Oisin beat Untold Ripple by just over 4 lengths in 15.60 as he returned from a rest. He ran the track ever so well and he should be in good form ready to defend his Scurry title. Untold Ripple will return for a crack at the Oaks and will continue to improve nicely over the coming weeks. Droopys Doris looked like she had seen Dunstall Park many times before as she glided around to post 28.32. She would have needed the spin and will return for a trial stakes next week.

There’s only one place to start our Friday review and that was the very disappointing outcome in the final of the Puppy Cup at Romford as the brilliant Magical Luka was beaten for the first time in his career when finishing 3rd in the final. He missed the break and got trouble at the first bend before unleashing unreal pace down the back straight but unfortunately he didn’t know what to do at the 3rd bend when challenging for the lead and was crowded out. He would never of had a dog in front of him before so it was perfectly understandable that he showed his inexperience there. While it was a great shame that he couldn’t win the final he remains an absolute superstar who I’m sure will go onto great things. It’s certainly been a pleasure to have him in Burford and his track record equalling performance in the first round will live long in our memories.

Unfortunately, Union Rebel stumbled from the boxes from trap 3 and he lost all chance in the standard open but returned safe and sound.

Jazzy George made sure we didn’t come home empty handed though as he won the puppy consolation race after poaching an early lead. He won by a length in 24.20 and will likely drop back down in trip for a crack at the Scurry.

Senahel Bingo made it back to back A1 wins as he won by 3/4 of a length in 26.70. Bingo broke very well and had to work hard to lead at the 3rd bend before repelling the late charge of Savanabetgoodwin.Silvertown Blues showed plenty of promise in her first race back from season when leading to the run-in in her A2. She posted a personal best 27.14 and will improve over the coming weeks.

Ollie The Ox recorded 26.82 in his pre-race trial and moved well throughout. It’s been a struggle to find the right race for him since he won his maiden on debut but he a really nice puppy and he should be for the upcoming Puppy Collar at Oxford.

Our two Signet Ace x Droopys Alice pups, Jazzy Soul and Jazzy Ace were given their first 3 dog trial and look a nice pair of youngsters. Jazzy Soul broke smartly to win in 15.14 while Ace overcame a bad stumble at the boxes to post 15.35. Sister Lizzie clocked 15.53 in the same trial as she returned from season.

Jet Stream Jane recorded 15.43 in her first trial since arriving from Ireland a few weeks ago and Sister Grace returned from season with a 15.60 spin.

Coppice Ronnie made it 3 wins from his last 4 races when virtually leading all the way in his sprint open at Swindon on Saturday afternoon. He posted a good 15.16 when winning by 3 lengths. Coppice Trophy hadn’t raced for a month but ran with real credit to finish 3rd in his standard open. He’s probably never been at his best around Swindon but showed nice pace to lead before tiring on the run-in.

Highfield Andy made it back to back A1 victories at Oxford on Saturday evening as he ran a very brave race to lead on the run-in. He looked to have no chance after missing the break and finding trouble at the bend but he made the most of some trouble up front and took his chance well.

Pom Pom made a winning debut for the kennel as she led out of the 2nd bend to take her maiden 450m open race by 1/2 a length in 27.24. This was her first race since a 550 open at Shelbourne Park back in April and she can only improve. She’ll have a trial stakes for the Oaks next week. Rebel Alaska was a very eye-catching runner up to Pom Pom and showed huge pace after a missed break to get himself back into contention. He’s a big green baby but really does look to have a bright future.

Baroness Velvet ran her heart out in the final of the Empress Stakes at Towcester on Sunday afternoon to finish runner-up behind a super winner in Silverhill Freya. She was slowly into stride again but showed lovely early pace to get herself into 2nd and was only beaten 2 1/2 lengths and posted her best time of 28.99. Velvet is only a Feb 24 puppy and comes out of the event with huge credit. Despite her tender age she’s a great record of three wins and two 2nds from her 5 races. We hope to take in the Puppy Collar at Oxford before returning to Towcester for the Puppy Oaks and she’s a very exciting prospect.
